Greetings from Zeist, the Netherlands! I moved here a year ago to live with my boyfriend. Zeist is a small town in the center of the Netherlands. There are many beautiful forests around here. The closest big city is Utrecht. It’s a very old city with gorgeous buildings.

My family has been active in the circus. My brother still is. I love seeing his shows. I used to do acrobatics but unfortunately I can’t anymore. I also really like Circe du Soleil, their shows are amazing!

Een kaartje uit Zeist, ik vond de mist erg mooi.
Mijn naam is Karlijn. Ik weet niet precies wat mijn ouders er bij dachten, ze vonden het gewoon mooi vertellen ze me. Wel weet ik dat als ik een jongen was geworden, ik Guus had geheten. Maar mijn jongere broertje heet dan weer Harm, want Guus vonden ze niet passen =)

“Hallo Karlijn, Zo, dat is een kaartje van heel dichtbij. En ik ben er heel blij mee! Vanwege de mist, maar ook, omdat het een werk is van Quint Buchholz en daar ben ik dol op! Ik heb een heel boek met werk van hem en deze staat daar niet in. Dus je hebt me dubbel blij gemaakt met je kaart.

Ja, wonderlijk hoe dat soms gaat met namen. Als mijn dochter een jongetje was geweest, had ze Jeroen geheten. En wie weet, als zij nog een jonger broertje had gekregen hadden we die toch ook geen Jeroen genoemd. Wel grappig, dat de namen Karlijn en Jeroen toevallig allebei voorkomen in de strip Jan, Jans en de kinderen, zit ik me nu opeens te bedenken. Ik vind Karlijn trouwens een leuke naam.
